Chase Elliott had to get through a few extra laps after 18 months since last winning a race. Elliott pulled ahead and cleared Ross Chastain on the first lap after the second restart in overtime Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway, ending a 42-race winless streak for NASCAR’s most popular driver. The race ended on the 16th caution after Elliott had taken the white flag for the 276th lap in a race scheduled for 267 laps.

Sam Mayer made a last-lap pass and held on to win by a matter of inches and less than a second ahead of Ryan Sieg at Texas Motor Speedway in one of the closest finishes in NASCAR Xfinity Series history on Saturday. Mayer was high against the outside wall after the two cars banged side-by-side on the way to the checkered flag. The final margin of .002 seconds matched the second-closest finish in series history.

Kyle Larson will be the pole sitter for the third NASCAR Cup race in a row after a fast lap of 190.369 mph in qualifying Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway. This is the 250th pole ever for Hendrick Motorsports and the team's fourth in a row. It is the 19th career pole for Larson but his first at Texas Motor Speedway, where last year he led 99 laps before getting loose and spinning into the wall with 85 laps left.
